For independent consultants

Keep the decision after the meeting from going quiet.

A meeting can create a new question, a client promise and a task for you. Record those next steps without moving the whole engagement into another system.

Write the unresolved decision, not only “meeting held”

A calendar entry tells you that a meeting happened. It may not tell you which recommendation the client still needs to choose. Name that decision in a Follow-up attached to the relevant Person.

If you promised a summary while the client promised an internal discussion, use separate Follow-ups. Your summary is Your turn; their decision is Waiting on them.

Use context before the next conversation

Before contacting the client, review what was recorded in the Timeline and the current Additional details. Ask about the decision still outstanding, not a topic already settled.

A planned Call, Meeting or Review is only your plan. SaathKaam does not schedule a calendar meeting, record audio or transcribe a conversation.

Turn an answer into an explicit next commitment

When the client chooses a recommendation, Record outcome. If you must now prepare the selected option, move the next step to Your turn or create a new focused preparation Follow-up.

Use a Target date for a useful checkpoint. Do not invent a deadline that the client never agreed to, and keep a Reminder independent from any planned action time.

Keep the engagement in its proper tools

Contracts, proposals, project plans and working documents remain outside SaathKaam. The app is for the unfinished interactions that are otherwise easy to leave in notes.

A resolved decision can be Done even while the wider consulting engagement continues. That keeps the list about what still needs attention.

Try the model

Confirm the recommendation to take forward

You presented two consulting options to Dev. He needs to consult a colleague before choosing one. Writing “meeting held” would miss the decision still outstanding.

Conceptual example for Dev: Confirm the recommendation to take forward; Waiting on them; follow up, record the result, then resolve the specific request.

Who
Dev
Follow-up
Confirm the recommendation to take forward
Whose turn
Waiting on them
Planned next action
Ask Dev which option to develop and note the decision needed.
Target date / Reminder
Use the checkpoint agreed at the meeting; keep any reminder separate from a planned call.
What changes in the Timeline
Record the decision in an outcome. Move to Your turn when you need to prepare the chosen recommendation.
What Done means
The decision and any next commitment are explicit; a separate preparation Follow-up can now be tracked.

Choose one unfinished interaction.

Think of someone you are waiting for—or a promise you still need to keep. Add that Person and one clear Follow-up. Leave optional details until they are useful.
